Top 21 Online Casinos - Kentucky Faces New Online Casino Legislation
Online casino gambling is banned in Kentucky despite the state being home to one of the largest gambling events in the U.S., the Kentucky Derby. However, while some legislators are seeking to push through new laws to legalize online casino gambling, their opponents in the anti-gambling lobby are fighting hard to prevent it. The outcome of their efforts will undoubtedly have direct consequences on the future of online casino gambling in Kentucky, but many analysts are predicting the battle will have broader implications for internet gambling in several other states.
The main supporter of the move to legalise online casino gambling in Kentucky is the Kentucky Equine Education Project (KEEP). Two senators David Boswell and Denver Butler have gone on the record to support online casino gambling, stating that valuable taxation revenue is being lost. Several of Kentucky’s neighbour states turn a blind eye to online casino gaming due to the revenue it provides. Additional support for legalization is also coming from the horse racing industry.
Leading the efforts of the anti-gambling lobby are various religious movements who have united to promote a “Say No to Online Casinos” campaign. The campaign calls for a complete ban on online casino gaming and other forms of gambling in the state of Kentucky. While many anti-gambling supporters object to the legalization issue being put on the state agenda, many others are in favour of taking the issue to a referendum and letting the people of Kentucky decide. Senator Butler also supports this move. "If we put it out there and the people say we don't want it, then we'll forget it," Butler says.
