Top 21 Online Casinos - Human bests machine in casinos poker game
In an age where the advances in computer technology bring to mind the dangers of technological advancement as portrayed in movies like "Terminator 3", one poker player challenged a robot in a casinos poker game and has stunted any rise of machines in a takeover of the gambling and casinos world, doing so by beating what has been billed as "the toughest poker robot in the world".
The match was held on July 15, 2005 between Phil Laak and "Poker Probot" at Binion's Horseshoe Casino in Las Vegas, this after six robots played each other for the honor of challenging the human poker ace. The game itself was sponsored by Golden Palace Online Casinos, an online casinos operator known well for its odd tendency to seek out publicity by placing ads in strange places and the purchase of strange artifacts from around the world to bring notoriety to their online casinos. The poker game, played in the traditional casinos setting, consisted of over 300 hands
To be fair, it wasn't necessarily the computer that lost but the computer’s programmers from the University of Alberta who failed to bless their robot with that necessary component which any top poker player has, whether playing in online casinos or at land-based casinos: raw skill. Phil Laak battled the Poker Probot in a casinos poker game which had a three hour limit. When he realized that the machine was playing too aggressively, he changed his playing style to capitalize on his opponent's weakness in this regard. Laak played his game and the computer played it’s game all while the surrounding audience cheered on Laak with the chant of “Humans! Humans!”. After the victory, Laak received numerous congratulations from the casinos audience as well as a hug from his girlfriend, actress Jennifer Tilly. He also collected $100 from the computer's programmer, Hilton "Pocket Rockets" Givens, with whom Laak had made a side bet.
