Craps is one of the most exciting casino games available at land casinos and online casinos. Once the gamblers start rolling dice everyone's adrenaline levels start to rise. You now begin to wonder, why do so many people care about the outcome? It's because everyone around the table, including spectators, can take part in this game's betting action.
Bets
This is how the game is played out. The shooter beings the round by throwing the first roll of the dice, if the outcome is a 7 or an 11 he wins, if the outcome is a 2, 3 or 12 he losses. If none of those numbers are rolled on the coming-out roll, the shooter continues to until one of two numbers is thrown; the Point (number thrown on the first roll) or a 7.
If the shooter rolls the Point before rolling a 7 he wins, and if he throws a 7 before rolling the Point he loses.
The shooter must place a wager in order to roll, but anyone can place a bet on the outcome of his toss. Gamblers around the Craps table can bet for the shooter or for the house to win.
The 3 main bets in Craps: Basic, Odd and One Roll Bets.
Basic Bets
are made before the coming out roll. Pass line bets are for the shooter. Don't pass bets are against the shooter. Both bets have the same payoff and odds.
Odds Bets (free odds)
have no advantage for the house. Pass line odd bets are made after the come-out-roll. 'Don't pass' odds bets come after you bet 'Don't Pass' on the first roll.
Buy Bets
bet on a number (not the Point) to be rolled before a 7. If a 7 is rolled before your Buy bet - you lose. If your Buy Bet is rolled before a 7 - you win. Most online casinos charge a 5 % service charge on Buy Bets Big 6 or Big 8 Bets: same as Buy Bets but 6 or an 8 can payoff Hard 4 bets and Hard 10: Hard Four is a (2, 2) combo and Hard Ten is a (5, 5) combo. One of these two combinations must be rolled before a 7 in order to win but the payoff is amazing (7:1) Hard 6 and Hard 8: Same concept as Hard 4 or 10 but the payoff is 9:1 if you win.
One Roll Bets
very popular since seven outcomes win (2, 3, 4, 9, 10, 11 or 12), and only four (5, 6, 7 or 8) lose. This bet usually pays even but sometimes online casinos pay 3:1 when a 2 or a 12 is rolled. You may also bet on one number on a One Roll Bets. The outcome of each number has a different payoff. These are the basics rules for the game of craps. Every gamer has their own style of betting so just pick the best one for you. My advice however is to shoot at least once before you place bets as a bystander. The only way to get a feel for the game is by being an active participant. So what are you waiting for? Get up there and start rolling those dice!
